What is ISOKIT?
ISOKIT Isothermal Solutions is the insulated body system fitted to Eurocold refrigerated vehicles. The body is the part of the vehicle that holds the cold: the insulated walls, floor, ceiling, and doors that sit on top of the chassis and house the refrigeration unit.
The ISOKIT system is designed and engineered in Italy, and Eurocold holds an exclusive partnership for the system in Australia. Where many refrigerated bodies on Australian roads are sourced as finished imports, ISOKIT bodies arrive as engineered components and are assembled locally at our production facility.
How is ISOKIT built differently?
The differences sit in three places: the insulation system, the build process, and where the build happens.
The insulation system. ISOKIT uses high-density panel construction engineered for thermal efficiency. That means the refrigeration unit holds chilled (+2°C to +8°C) or frozen (down to −18°C) temperatures with less energy draw, which compounds over the life of the vehicle in fuel and power efficiency.
The build process. ISOKIT bodies are assembled as integrated systems rather than retrofitted onto a chassis at the end. The body, the refrigeration unit, and the chassis are matched and integrated at the point of build, not bolted together as separate decisions.
Where the build happens. Our Berrinba production facility in Queensland spans more than 8,677 square metres and was purpose-built as Australia’s first drive-through refrigerated assembly hub. The facility is eight times the size of our previous Wynnum site and gives us ten-fold manufacturing and assembly capability.
Why does Australian assembly matter?
Three reasons, each practical rather than theoretical.
First, the conditions an Australian cold fleet operates in are different from those most refrigerated bodies are engineered for. Summer ambients in much of the country push refrigeration units harder for longer than European or northern Asian routes. Building for the actual environment, rather than approximating it, changes which materials and seal specifications work best.
Second, local assembly means local accountability. If a body needs adjustment, repair, or modification, the team that built it is the team that maintains it. Our repairs and maintenance service covers ISOKIT bodies end to end, including body swaps, fibreglass and panel repairs, structural welding, and modifications as your operation changes.
Third, supply continuity. An imported finished body is reliant on a long shipping line for replacements and parts. Local assembly compresses that line dramatically.
What does this mean for the life and reliability of your fleet?
Cold fleet downtime is rarely caused by the chassis. It is most often caused by body or refrigeration issues: failing seals, panel damage, insulation degradation, refrigeration unit faults. The body is the part of the vehicle that takes the daily knocks of loading, unloading, and temperature cycling.
A body engineered for the conditions, integrated with the refrigeration unit at the build stage, and supported by the team that built it, holds up longer and costs less in lifetime servicing. The thermal efficiency built into the insulation also reduces the load on the refrigeration unit, which extends its service life.
